This Wednesday, In Strathcona Lecture Theatre 4 (R18 on the campus map) the University is holding a consultation meeting with students to gather our feedback on their proposal.
We do not need to have the proposal explained to us another time. We have not simply misunderstood, and we certainly do not need to hear the same justifications they have repeated every time a student emails them to complain about their proposal.
Students are against this proposal. We have over 1000 signatures against it – more than the entire languages department. We have been working on this at one of the most stressful times in the academic year, with even final year students and postgrads dedicating a huge amount of time. The Guild of Students has gathered immense support for their counter-proposal, opposing all redundancies. Either this University stops patronising us and listens to this, or they admit that they never had students’ interests in mind.
Read more about the campaign and students’ reasons for opposing it here.
Strathcona Lecture Theatre 4, 4pm, Wednesday 16th March. Come along, bring your friends, tell your classmates and even bring friends from other departments, because this affects the entire University community.
